

Leonard D. Fiske Born: August 3, 1922 Portland, ORDied: May 26, 2009Leonard D. Fiske was born in Portland on August 3, 1922 to Leonard G. and Elizabeth Fiske. He spent his childhood in Portland and graduated from Benson High School. Soon after graduating, he went to work for the phone company. In 1942 he joined the Navy and served until 1946. After discharge, he resumed his career and married his wife of 62 years, Lou Ann. He worked for Pacific Northwest Bell for 41 years retiring in 1982 as a senior engineer.Throughout his career, he volunteered with the Telephone Pioneers and United Way. Leonard led a full life enjoying sporting events, gardening, hunting and especially fishing. He and Lou Ann hosted many fun family vacations at the Oregon coast captaining their boat and teaching the kids to fish.Leonard was a loving husband and father who was a great role model for his children and grandchildren. His generosity and helpfulness were appreciated by family and friends alike. He will be missed my all.He is survived by his wife, Lou Ann; and children, John (Shirley) of Vancouver; Douglas (Patricia) of Midland, Texas; and Lisa (Kevin) Scott of Portland. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Andrew (Christa) Fiske, Holly (Eric) Green, Carissa Sharp, Kyle Sharp, Emily (Sumedh Kanetkar) Sharp, Ryan Fiske, Jalyn Fiske and Jessica Fiske; and one great-grandchild, Jarvis Kanetkar.A service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2009 in Willamette National Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Gateway Little Chapel of the Chimes, 503-256-0606. Remembrances preferred to the United Way or Oregon Humane Society.
