Leonard C Jones

Leonard C Jones, 97, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2026. He was born on December 19, in Caldwell, Idaho, to Ruby V. and Erle E. Jones. He was raised in both Idaho and Washington State, where he developed the strong values of hard work, integrity, and honesty that guided him throughout his life.

Leonard proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He enlisted on July 17, 1946, and served honorably until his discharge on September 26, 1949, attaining the rank of AG3.

On December 31, 1948, Leonard married the love of his life, Dorothy A. Wansen, in Whatcom County, Washington. Together they shared many happy years of marriage until Dorothy's passing in 2004.

Following his military service, Leonard built a distinguished career as a meteorologist with the National Weather Service. He also enjoyed spending his leisure time on the golf course, bowling, and playing bridge with family and friends.

Leonard is survived by his daughters, Judy, Darlene, and Sandra; his grandchildren, Matthew, David, Amy, Kerstin, and Tom; and his great-grandchildren, Jed, Wyatt, Colton, Caitlyn, Dillon, Lucy, and Eva.

A committal service with United States Navy Honors will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Willamette National Cemetery.

Leonard's family is grateful for the many years of love, friendship, and support shared with him. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
