Leslie "Les" Bernard Cade, age 78, of Portland, Oregon passed away on Sunday August 19, 2018. Les was born November 5, 1939 in Coos Bay, Oregon to Margaret and Richard Cade. He was one of two children. Growing up Les attended Marshfield High School.
When Les was 18 he made the big move to the city of Portland. Les married his first wife Jean and the two welcomed their son into their home. Throughout Les's life he lived in various places around the Pacific Northwest. He logged trees from Northern California to the Oregon Coast. Les worked as a heavy equipment operator in construction. He spent the most time working as an auto mechanic and retired from driving parts for NAPA. Retirement didn't slow Les down though. He loved working on and riding his motorcycle. When he wasn't out on the open road he was in his shop creating amazing works of art. He loved leatherworking; creating everything from belts to bags.
Les's most loved hobby, that he won awards for, was model ship building. He would disappear into his shop for hours and create masterpieces; creating everything from the ship's big hull to the tiniest viewing scope. He was a member of the Portland Model Boat Association and the Northwest RC Ship Modelers.
Les married Sharon in 1970 and they welcomed two daughters into their lives. They were married for 20 years.
In 1994 Les married Dorothy. The two met when Dotti moved to Portland; she was searching for a place to live and found a room with Les's daughter Sheryl. One evening Sheryl invited Dotti to have dinner with her and her dad. The rest is history... Les stole Sheryl's best roommate!
Les will be remembered for his beautiful creations and the love he had for his family. His life was truly an adventure.
Les is survived by his spouse, Dorothy Cade; daughter Sheryl Cade; son Leslie Cade; and daughter Elizabeth Kelly; granddaughter Katie Statham, granddaughter Stevie Cade, great granddaughters Destiny Statham and Skylar Statham, and great grandson Ethan Statham.
