

Lois was born in 1928 in Warrenton, Oregon to Albert and Ruth Magnuson. Her family moved to Astoria when she was ten. She attended elementary school and graduated from Astoria High School in 1946.
In 1948 she moved to Portland where she worked for an insurance company. She met David Bell and they married in 1949. In 1950, David and Lois moved to Seattle where their two children were born. They returned to Portland in 1957 and bought a home in the Laurelhurst neighborhood where they raised their family.
Lois married Ralph Bergstrom in 1969. They shared the joys of seeing their kids launch into careers, and of entertaining family – especially the beloved grandchildren.
Lois was a dedicated office manager for Northern Yards, a building supply company, for 25 years. She had many interests and thrived on helping people. She was an avid bridge player, took classes in recycling and became a master recycler, and belonged to a women’s philanthropic educational organization, PEO. She served twice as president of the PEO city-wide reciprocity and was an involved fundraiser.
After retirement, Lois was an active volunteer at Beverly Cleary School, Albertina Kerr, and The Northwest Pilot Project. She was also an active member and served as deacon at the
Laurelhurst Presbyterian Church. There she met Jack Potts who was her dear friend later in life.
Lois lived in a neighborhood where she was surrounded by many kind and supportive friends. She lived in the Laurelhurst neighborhood in the same house for 61 years.
