Lois Julia Underwood Knopf passed away on February 19, 2017, at age 101. She had a long and happy productive life, including with her husband Bill, deceased; daughter Linnell Parker, deceased; daughter Ruth Tooze; 4 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was born in Boyd, Oregon on December 18, 1915, and had many stories of growing up on a wheat ranch, riding a horse bareback before she was in school, attending a one-room school until 4th grade, then moving to town in The Dalles and graduating from The Dalles High School in 1933. She spent many years, until retirement, as secretary to the superintendents of the North Clackamas School District. She was a long-time member, and president of the National Association of Educational Secretaries, making many friends through that group. She and Bill traveled extensively, especially after retirement, and developed great interest and skill in photography. She and Bill were long-time members of First Baptist Church of Portland, and made many friends and participated in many activities there. She will be greatly missed by all her family and all who knew her. At her request, there will be no funeral service, but a family gathering will be held to honor her.
