

Lola was born August 29th to Ella and Thomas Johnson in Belzoni, Mississippi. She was the third daughter born to the couple. At the age of 8 years old, the Johnson family moved to Van Port, OR where Lola completed her education. She worked as an Licensed Practical Nurse, and an X-ray Tech for Providence Hospital for several years before enrolling at Sanford University where she received her Certification and License in Radiolgy. She worked at Oregon Health Sciences University for over 20 years as a Supervisor in the Radiology Department. Upon retiring, Lola enrolled in Marylhurst University and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services. Lola was raised in a Christian home and was baptized at a very young age. Lola was one of the first families to join St. Paul under the leadership of Rev. Holiday. Lola was one of the first Piano players at St. Paul. She also established the Nursing Corp., she was the Director of the Sunshine youth choir. Later she was the Director for the Sunday Choir. Lola was a faithful and dedicated member until her health began to fail. Lola went home to glory at 12:00 am on Good Friday. Lola was the proud parent of six children: Mitchell Carter, Valerie Carter, Anthony Carter, Brian Jones, Jonetta Carter, and Angelique Carter. Preceding her in death by her parents Thomas and Ella Johnson, her husband John Carter, her son Brian Jones, her sisters Ethel Pearson, Evelyn Wilson, Marie Howard, and her brother, Waydell Gray. She leaves to mourn her sisters Veria Bolin-Page, Shirley Richardson, Catherine Pearson, her brothers William Johnson, and J.P. Pearson, her five children, 13 grandchildren: Acasia, Alfred Jr., Amion, Anthony Jr., Alisha, Thomas, Alexandria, Ashley, Antonio, Aaron, David, Jeremy, Asha. Ten Great Grandchildren: River, Miriam, Amir, Anthony III, Alfred III, Aveah, Aiden, Noah, Kallie, Aliyah. She had four God-Children: Jeff England, Darrell Storey, Tatyana and Fantasia Wells. She had numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Lola was loved by many. She will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.
