Loretta was raised in Portland and in New York, and graduated from Colony High School in New York. On May 28, 1966, she married Joseph Stewart Crandall, Sr. She served as a church custodian for over a decade, and enjoyed volunteering at church, reading her bible, spending time with children, grandchildren, and pets, gardening, and game shows. She also played most sports as a young person and continued to be active throughout her life.
Loretta will be remembered as a caring and loving (and occasionally stubborn) mother and grandmother who was always willing to help and give of her time and energy. She was a most compassionate person, and a woman of great faith and love for the Lord.
Loretta was preceded in death by her husband Joseph in 2022, and by a sister, Juanita Miller.
She will be missed, loved, and remembered by
Daughter Juanita Bowen (and her fiancé John Wilson), and by grandchildren Michael Bowen, Ashley Strong (and husband Drake), Brittany Wonderly (and husband Trevor Wonderly and their son Beau Wonderly), and Amber Bowen (and her boyfriend Kory Shaw and Amber’s son Landon Turnage).
Donations in her name to either the Oregon Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals or the Veterans of Foreign Wars would be appreciated by Loretta’s family.
A funeral service will be held at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church on Thursday, December 20 at 1:00 pm with private family interment at Willamette National Cemetery.
