

Lou Ann Fiske was born Feb. 3, 1921, in Edgar, Neb., to John and Thelma Musick, Lou Ann spent her childhood in the Midwest and graduated from Okmulgee High School in Oklahoma. When she was 21, she moved to Portland with her parents and got a job with Firestone Tires. After the war, she met her husband, Leonard, while swing dancing. She captured his heart and soon they were married. They were together for 62 years until his death on May 26, 2009. Four months later, she died peacefully in the home that Leonard and her father had built. Lou Ann led a full life filled with children, grandchildren and neighborhood animals. She loved gardening, music, art, wildlife and especially family get-togethers. Lou Ann and Leonard hosted many fun family vacations at the Oregon coast, captaining their boat and teaching the kids to fish. Lou Ann was a loving wife and mother who was a great role model for her children and grandchildren. Her generosity and helpfulness were appreciated by family and friends alike. She will be missed by all. She is survived by her children, John (Shirley) of Vancouver; Douglas (Patricia) of Midland, Texas; and Lisa (Kevin) Scott of Portland. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Andrew (Christa) Fiske, Holly (Eric) Green, Carissa Sharp, Kyle Sharp, Emily (Sumedh Kanetkar) Sharp, Ryan Fiske, Jalyn Fiske and Jessica Fiske; and one great-grandchild, Jarvis Kanetkar. A service was held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009, in Gateway Little Chapel of the Chimes, 503-256-0606. Remembrances preferred to the Oregon Humane Society, 503-285-7722.
