He passed away in Portland on June 29 from non-smokers lung cancer. He pushed until the end but passed peacefully into the beauty of heaven and the presence of God.
As a child, Lyle went to Portland Christian Schools; a tradition many members of his family would follow later in life. He attended college at Judson Baptist College as well as Fresno Pacific College. While at Fresno Pacific, he met Edith Ewert, who would later become his wife. The two were married in 1968 in California. They had three daughters and Lyle faithfully cared for his wife through her own 25 year battle and sickness.
Lyle had several different careers throughout his life. For twenty years, he was a computer programmer. For another twenty years, he worked as a baker for Nabisco.
Lyle’s faith was important to him. He was a charter member of Montavilla Baptist Church, a church he attended since he was seven years old. He had the opportunity to go on a lot of Alaskan cruises and had hobbies at home as well, such as baking, gardening, crocheting machine knitting, bowling.
Lyle is survived by his daughters: Urlene (Adam) Ayriss, Yvonne (Aron) Noll and Chandra Dick; Urlene and Adam’s children: Mackenzie and Zachary; Yvonne’s and Aron’s children: Maleena, Lian, Isaiah and Fina and another baby that is on the way; his sisters Bonnie and Barbara, his nephew Jeremy and niece Tiffany and numerous cousins and relatives.
A private family graveside service will be held at Belcrest Memorial Park in Salem, Oregon. A memorial service will be held at Montavilla Baptist Church on Saturday, July 8th at 2pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Montavilla Baptist Church.
