August 9, 1921 – November 29, 2012
Margaret Hyde was born in Portland, Oregon August 9th, 1921 to Mae Margaret Key and Howard Raymond Hyde. When she was two years old, her parents moved to Bend, Oregon. She lived there until 1940. That year she moved back to Portland, and worked as a typist for the Navy Lumber Office until the end of the war. Then she went to work for the Bonneville Power office for three years . She then went to work for Frank Chevrolet Company until the business closed.
In 1969, she married Floyd Groves and acquired a step family whom she loved.
They both loved entertaining and travel and did a lot of both. Their home was always open. They went on many auto trips all over the U.S. and Canada. They also had five memorable tours abroad.
They got to celebrate 25 years of marriage before Floyd died in 1995. Margaret and our family appreciated all the care that Alane Duckett has provided since 2006, which included taking Margaret to the NARF meetings, lunches with her cousins and many other places she needed to go.
Alane was the widow of her late step-son Gary Groves, who died in 1999.
She is survived by step-daughter Gloria Muncie, grandchildren Gardiner, Bret, and Scott McKay, Joshawa Groves and Rebekah Groves, two great grand children, three great great grandchildren, Amber Leach, caregiver Alane Duckett and many cousins, plus her beloved little poodle Gigi.
Memorial Services will be December 13th at 1:00pm at the Gateway Chapel of the Chimes.
