Margery Irene Weisenfluh
March 8, 1922 – October 7, 2019
Margery was born March 8, 1922 in Elsie, Nebraska to Roscoe and Estella Carter. She had one brother, LeRoy Carter (who preceded her in death in 1964).
In 1938 the family made the move to Oregon looking for a better life as there wasn't much available in Elsie. Marge's dad and brother had made a scouting trip to Oregon before they made the move.
After moving to Oregon, they lived in Forest Grove and Woodland, Washington, then in a home-garage-store on Cornell Road. Then they moved to Portland (67th street and then to 28th & Irving). Her dad was a carpenter. Margery worked at Doernbecher Furniture store (building furniture) while Harold was gone in the Army for 3 1/2 years.
On October 26, 1945 Harold Weisenfluh and Margery Carter were married at the Bethany Baptist Parsonage. They were married for 62 years (before Harold passed away on November 23, 2007). They lived on Saltzman Road in the Cedar Mill area for 45 years and farmed the area. When land was being developed they moved to North Plains and then to Johnson Street in Aloha. In March 2014 Marge downsized by moving to a 2 bedroom condo on the east side of Hillsboro. In 2018 she moved into an assisted living facility (Rosewood Park) near her previous home where she lived until her death.
Margery was a member of Singing Hills Christian Church and the Westside Wanders Travel Club. She spent many hours working on the farm and cooking meals. She enjoyed sewing and crafts. In later years she loved to play Bunco. She also enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was involved in many family activities.
Harold and Marge had 3 children; Patty, Ronald, and June. There are 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.skylinememorialgardens.com for the Weisenfluh family.
