Marie’s life-long love of family was second only to her love & devotion to her faith in God. Both gave her immense joy throughout her life.
Born in Anaconda, Montana Marie is predeceased by her parents Jim & Celeste Moriarity, her siblings Jim & Phil, and her husband James. After she married Jim Clark in 1959 they moved to Portland. Marie is survived by her three children Bill, David(Stayce), & Ruth(Wes). She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Brandon, Danyelle, Tyler, Cody, Kennedy, Aiden, Max, Jordan, & Cameron and five great grandchildren: Devon, Sienna, Jaxson, Gavin, & Coura.
Marie found great joy in supporting postal issues through 50 years of membership in the Auxiliary to the American Postal Workers’ Union (Jim had worked for the US Postal Service & was always involved in the APWU). She was more than just a member, she was an active participant including local, state, and national leadership positions. Over the years there were countless meetings, conventions, & projects that she put her heart and soul into.
Marie enjoyed traveling and spending time gardening. She managed to make it to both Europe & Asia, as well as explore much of the US. She enjoyed it most when she could get a visit in with her grandchildren in the Armed forces or join her friends both from her parish or the Auxiliary. Her joy of gardening took off when she moved to her St. John’s House. It was not uncommon to find Marie sharing her raspberry bushes or picking the weeds in your yard.
Family, friends from Holy Redeemer, the Auxiliary, the Union, and TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) all provided great strength to Marie as she struggled in her battle with breast cancer.
In lieu of flowers Marie requested donations be made to one of the following: Holy Redeemer Catholic school or church, or the Auxiliary to the APWU ‘School Backpack Project’ (School Backpack Program, Llewelyn Elementary School, 6301 SE 14th, Portland, Or 97202)
Funeral will be held September 13th, 11am at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with a celebration of life to follow at the school.
