Marjorie Marian Ellis

Marjorie attended high school in East Lansing, Michigan, and completed one year of college, as well as medical training in elder care and hearing. She later worked part-time in elder care and hearing testing, though her primary role was as a full-time mother.

Marjorie met her husband, Dick Ellis, in East Lansing, and the two were married on April 10, 1964, in Anaheim, California. As the wife of a U.S. Navy sailor, Marjorie experienced military life alongside Dick, including more than ten postings throughout their years together.

Faith and music were important parts of Marjorie’s life. She grew up in the Episcopal Church and attended military chapels and Christian churches throughout her life. Musically talented, she played the organ, piano, and flute.

Marjorie enjoyed sewing and crafts and especially loved traveling to spend time with friends and family. She had a remarkable memory for people and their stories and treasured the relationships she formed throughout her life. Her family remembers her as someone who loved God and loved people.

Marjorie is survived by her sons, John and Bill, and their spouses; five grandchildren and three of their spouses; six great-grandchildren; her brother, Stan, his wife, Lanne, and their family; her nephew Arthur and his family; and many beloved “granddogs.” She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick Ellis, in 2020.

Marjorie will be remembered for the relationships she treasured, the stories she carried with her, and the love she shared with those around her.
