

Marlys was born in Mondovi, WI to Marian and Orrin Butler. In 1943 the family moved to Vanport, Oregon where her parents worked as welders in the shipyards. She grew up in the St. Johns neighborhood of Portland with 2 brothers and 5 sisters. She graduated from Roosevelt High School and in 1959 married William (Bill) Neely. Together they had three children. She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters; Marge Patt, Doris Nace, Norma Sallee, Carolyn Dietz, her husband Bill (April 1997), her son-in-law Martin Rigsby (June 2016) and her son, US Air Force Retired Chief Master Sergeant Ronald Neely in March of this year.
Marlys is survived by her brothers; Gene Butler and Roger Butler, her sister Sandy Barto, her daughters; Cathleen Rigsby, Teresa Brown (Steve), her daughter-in-law Tina Neely, 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Marlys had advanced vascular dementia from diabetes and died due to injuries from three falls in two days at the end of June.
She loved to laugh, had a kind heart, generous spirit and unconditional love for all of her family. We were so lucky to have her as our Mom. She will be laid to rest Aug 3rd with her husband at Skyline Memorial Gardens.
