Plus many nieces and nephews.
Jack was predeceased by his wife, Geraldine Joy (1983), his parents Ted (1975) and Dorothy (1976), and his only brother – Larry Carson (2008).
Jack was born in Spokane, Washington and at the age of 10 moved to Seattle, Washington with his family, where he attended elementary school and high school, graduating in 1948. Jack worked for Greyhound, until joining the Navy in 1950, serving until 1954. He met Geraldine Chapman though his sister Shirley, while he was in the Navy. Jack and Gerry were married on December 11, 1954 in Portland, Oregon. Jack worked as a plumber his entire life until his retirement in 1992.
Jack lost the love of his life in January, 1983.
Through the years Jack enjoyed many parties and get togethers with family and friends. The parties on 55th Street had to be the best around! Jack also enjoyed summer get togethers at the lake with family. He also went on many ocean fishing trips with his dad, brother, sons and nephews. Jack was also an avid bowler as well. He was very fortunate to have the opportunity to go on an Alaskan Cruise with 3 of his 4 siblings, this is a memory he cherished!
In 1992 Jack broke his back in a fall, thankfully he was not paralyzed. Jack was diagnosed in 2005 with Alzheimer’s. In August of 2009 his children made the decision to move Jack into Memory Care at Russellville. Although at first Jack was not very happy with the move, he came to accept this as his home. Jack enjoyed the many outings they went on and was always lending a helping hand to the residents and staff at Russellville. Jacks health continued to deteriorate, and passed away on August 11, 2011.
My brothers and I would like to sincerely thank the staff at Russellville. Jack had a special place in his heart for his caregivers, especially Wendy who shared a special bond with him. We are so blessed to have found such a wonderful place for dad to live for the past 2 years! In April of 2011 we made a connection with Providence Hospice Services, again they were a blessing, thank you to all of you for making Jacks last months as comfortable as you could. We would also like to thank all of his friends and family who have been a part of his life throughout his 81 years.
Donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of Oregon would be greatly appreciated.
