Mary Bridget Chambers

Mary Chambers, 93, peacefully passed away on Sept 20 at her home in Monmouth. She was born May 7,1924 in Condon, OR to James and Katherine (Cantwell) Murtha, and was the youngest of seven children. She graduated from Marylhurst College in 1947 and married George W Chambers in 1948 in Portland where they made their home and raised their two children.

Mary was a member of St Rose Catholic Church for more than 50 years.She was active in the Altar Society, Rosary Group, Meals on Wheels and others.

She enjoyed reading, traveling, Broadway shows, the Trail Blazers and spending time at the family ranch. Mary was a member of the American Council of the Blind and worked to bring audible crosswalk signals to Portland.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband George and son John. She is survived by daughter Margaret, brother Patrick, and 6 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

A funeral mass will be at 10am, Friday Oct 13th at St Rose Catholic Church. Recitation of the rosary will precede the mass at 9:30am.
