Mary Jacquelyn Glynn was born January 21, 1935 in Portland, Oregon to James and Mable McMahon. She grew up in southeast Portland with her 4 siblings- Patrick, James, Margaret and Judith. She attended St Ignatius grade school, St Mary's Academy and Providence nursing school. Following nursing school graduation, she started an adventure in the Airforce with her dear friend, Dee. It was in Mobile, Alabama that she met the love of her life, Joseph Glynn of the US marines. They soon married in June of 1961 and had 3 stunningly beautiful daughters. Not only did she gain a husband, but also an extensive and loving southern extended family. Joe was taken way to soon in 1972 from cancer. Jackie tackled single parenthood without skipping a beat. She worked full time as a nurse and somehow was able to attend every sporting event and recital with her camera in hand. After raising all girls, she was blessed with 6 grandsons who loved and adored her. She had a special relationship with each of them, and couldn't be more proud of the men they became.
Jackie passed away peacefully on the evening of Oct. 3rd, 2026 at Providence hospital at the very place that she trained to be a nurse. She was able to live independently in her house of almost 60 years, which is what she wanted. In her last couple weeks she had a constant flow of family and friends at her bedside. She left nothing unsaid.
She was blessed with communion daily, more prayers than one could count and a special visit from Father Matt Libra who provided her the sacrament of the sick with a packed room of family surrounding her.
Jackie aka Baumi to her grandkids, will be remembered for her unwavering faith in God, her sharp wit, photographic prowess and perseverance in the face of adversity. Maybe her biggest gift was her ability to comfort. She was an amazing labor and delivery nurse and helped bring in to this world a good majority of the Portland area. She also inspired all three of her daughters to follow in her foot steps. May she rest in peace as she joins all those that have gone before her.
All are welcome to attend her funeral mass on Friday, October 30th , 2026 at 10:00am at St. Rose church with rosary at 9:30 am and reception to follow at the German American Society
