After her parents divorced, she was raised by her grandparents John and Agnes Thiel, and her uncle Fred Thiel. She graduated Central High School in Sioux City.
During the Depression in the 1930's, she came to Oregon and married Floyd G. Hendren, Jr. Together they had 3 children, Lee, Judy, and Floyd III.
In the early 1950's, they purchased a small farm on Springville Rd. She wanted to raise her children in the country. Mom had vegetable gardens and did a lot of canning. We had a Jersey cow that mom milked and made butter from the cream. Her favorite pets were her donkeys, which she took a lot of kidding about.
Mom was active in the Skyline Grange, Skyline School PTA, and 4H-Clubs. She was also a member of the Rebekah Lodge, Leedy Grange and The American Legion auxillary.
Mom and dad enjoyed traveling in their Winnebago and square dancing with friends as far away as Canada.
In later years they slowed down, taking small trips, with occasional trips to their Ocean Park Washington beach cabin.
One of Mom's joys was attending the Hell's Canyon Mule Day Rodeo in Enterprise with Floyd and his wife Kathy. In 2011, she was honored as the oldest person in attendance.
She is survived by her 3 children, Lee (Sally), Floyd (Kathy), and Judy (John); 4 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.
We will miss you and you will always be in our hearts.
