It is hard to believe Mary is no longer with us.
I shopped with Mary for forty years. 
I have moved from Oregon, as a result I was not able to attend her Mass,  however, she is not forgotten in my prayers.

Mary and I , Joann McGarty ( now Bennett) were friends after many years at St.Frances de Chantal Elementary School in Wantagh , NY followed by high school at Our Lady of Mercy Academy in Syosset , NY. Mary was always so sweet, had beautiful long curled brunette hair , a beautiful smile and I can still hear her infectious laugh . Photo taken in our 9th grade , I believe, field trip to Albany. Can you see Mary? Bottom middle 2nd row. God heals all and I know you will be reunited with Mary in the future. Her soul lives eternal. God bless and give you peace.

Growing up in Wantagh, the neighborhood friends left the impact of a lifetime.Mary was one of the best.  So many memories that I will always treasure. Reconnecting after all these years was just like going back in time.  Every morning I put face cream on, I think of Mare who said to pile it on.   Altho, she tried to get me to wear red lipstick, it just didn't work on me.  I truly believe she slept with it on. Always looked so pulled together.   Love you Mare,  till we meet again 😘

Dear Mary,

I was so happy that we were able to connect when you came back to visit Long Island.  You know, you were/are my favorite cousin.

You are so warm-hearted and giving, and you were devoted to your mom.  You were both very much alike, so sweet and caring and quite funny as well 😊

I remember growing up, our families spent Thanksgiving at my house with my mom preparing all the delicious food, and then Christmas Day at your house, with all the fancy decorations and the silver tree 😊 as well as the delicious food 😊   I had never seen a silver tree before in my life!   The most vibrant memory that comes to me from the holiday visits is that whenever we would all sit down to eat, as soon as your butts hit the chair, you and my sister, Bette, would start giggling and then it would end up in full blown laughter and our parents had to separate the two of you so that dinner could continue.  It still cracks me up thinking about it.  There was no reason to laugh, no joke, etc.  but you two just did it year, after year, after year!  Too funny.

Mary, you are a beautiful person inside and out and I’m so sorry that you were taken so young and I will miss you, but I know that you are now with your mom in heaven.

I was very sad to learn that Mary passed away. Like Constance, I met her at Maryville because my mom was also a resident there.Mary was very devoted to her mom and  was there most evenings. She was so beautiful and always had a kind word. I remember her sharing how when she got her mom ‘s house ready to sell she left it spotless and had a welcoming letter for the new owners. RIP Dear One. You are missed. ❤️

Oh my heart hurts so bad right now. My sweet Maryville sister.I met Mary in 2010 at Maryville Nursing facility when she was visiting her mom and I was visiting my husband there. We saw each other daily for almost 4 yrs. We had so many days and nights that we shared what emotional rollercoaster one goes through when your loved one is in their last years and residing in a nursing home. We cried and laughed and went on walks. We had stayed in touch even though I moved to Arizona. The last I spoke to her was earlier this year. I tried to reach her via Facebook on her birthday but didn't hear back. She was an amazing woman and friend she will be missed! Condolences to her family and many friends whose lives were touched so sweetly by her being the amazing human that she was.

Mary~Always the most beautiful person inside and out! I grew up directly across the street from Mary and although she was (very) slightly older than me, we became the very best of friends.  We would do handstands and cartwheels across our lawns, sit on the curb for ours and discuss the birds and the bees and families and such. Mary coined my nickname, Krumcake, which has stuck for my lifetime!!! Mary's mom was just as sweet and I remember them as not only mother and daughter duo, but best friends as well. A few years ago Mary came to NYC and she, Stephanie and I did a whirlwind NYC tourist few days;  I am so grateful to have spent that special time with Mary. Mary, I loved you from the moment we first met, 20 years ago.  I always knew you could put something together for me for the next business day, meeting, review. Over the years we became best friends and attended the Theater together. We saw every great play when it hit Portland. Season tickets for years.  Our dogs played together, Quinnie when she was a pup, and my dog Katie, the old lady.  I am lost without you but I know you have found peace and are once again in the arms of your Mother.  I will miss you always.

I met Mary only once, and it was my good fortune. I’ve been seeking her out ever since, literally, every time I go to Nordstrom I have I asked after her, inquiring when she’ll return. I am saddened to learn of her passing. The evening we met, she had stepped in unexpectedly and wowed me with her eye for which pieces would make me feel like a million bucks, and with her kind words of encouragement. A true class act in every way. Goodbye, Mary.

Mary was an absolute joy to work with and I am so blessed to have known her.

Mary and I grew up together in Wantagh, N.Y. On Long Island near Jones Beach. We were born 2 days apart and lived 2 houses apart. We stayed in touch when she moved to Oregon , and she came back to N.Y. To visit. I finally visited  her in Beaverton. We had a fun filled Labor Day weekend together. Canon Beach was very much like our beloved Jones Beach. I will treasure those memories forever. There is a hole in my heart Mare Mare❤️. I love you.

I met Mary in 1978, shortly after she began her career at Nordstrom and I began mine. We became fast friends, and remained so over the many years.
I love and miss you Mary, as do so many others. Rest in peace dear friend.❤️

Mary and I started our careers around the same time in 1978.  Mary went upstairs to  Gallery/Collectors  and I stayed in the Individualist Department.  

Mary helped countless people in a career that spanned almost 5 decades.  An impressive feat that many could not emulate in today’s world.  Shoppers knew where they could find her, and they knew that they would be greeted by warm and personable Mary.    Mary knew fashion and her customers, as evidenced by her All Star and Pacesetter awards over the years.

Thank you for always being there Mary.  I will probably still search for you when I scan the department, looking for your beautiful, familiar face.

I like to think that you have just moved on, sharing your kindness and talents with others in a new place.  Perhaps there’s a Nordstrom and a Collectors department in Heaven.  If so, maybe you can put in a good word for your fellow Nordy coworkers.  We love and miss you.

Anyone who has met Mary knows she was one of a kind and truly special.  I have many fond memories of our shopping adventures, spanning nearly thirty years.  Especially that exciting one where we witnessed loss prevention in action!  And then there were our lively conversations about all things gardening.  But those shopping adventures, Mary always knocked it out of the ballpark.  Mary could always find that perfect piece, the right size, and not just for me, but also for my Mom, sister, and grandniece, too.  Their eyes would light up when we were shopping and I'd say, "let's go see Mary", and we all admired Mary's graceful polish and style.  Whenever we parted, it was with a hug and a promise to see each other soon.  I will miss you, Mary, and will remember forever your kindness to me and my family, your mischievous laughter, and warm smile.  Another friend mentioned in their tribute to you that Heaven must have rejoiced when you arrived, and I will add that Heaven is now much better dressed!

You were the most wonderful friend.
Yes, you knew your designers and I truly appreciated that.  You always had a dress or suit waiting for me.
Most importantly, you were so kind, sweet, willing to dress me for an event when I walked in with my raincoat on a nothing else!
You adored my twin grandchildren.  
I miss you, but know we’ll see each other again someday, both, wearing our very BEST.
Heaven must have rejoiced when you appeared…
You are and were truly the best…until we meet again.
