

Mary Ann Pape (née Crooks), aged 82, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2025, in Portland, Oregon. Born on January 31, 1943, in Chehalis, Washington, to Paul and Marjorie Crooks, Mary Ann's early years were marked by a quiet demeanor and a profound love for reading and spirituality.
Mary Ann pursued higher education at Lewis & Clark, earning a Bachelor's degree before embarking on a career as an English school teacher in Monroe, Washington. Her professional journey was a testament to her passion for education and her dedication to nurturing young minds.
Mary Ann's life was profoundly altered by a severe car accident, which occurred when her sons were very young. The accident resulted in significant physical and cognitive challenges, including the loss of much of her short-term memory. Despite these difficulties, she continued to find joy in her deep love for music, a passion that was instilled in her from childhood by her mother and comforted her until her final days.
She is survived by her sons, Robert and James Beezhold, and her grandchild, Frankie.
