The first time I had the opportunity to meet Matt in person was in Seattle last year with our NW ReadySpaces team.  We had an immediate connection and from that time we were not only colleagues, but fast friends.  He spoke often of his family, and every time he mentioned his daughter Evelyn, you could tell he was beaming and smiling even over the phone.  Matt was very intuitive, sincere, hardworking, intelligent but most importantly one of the good guys.  His loss continues to hit me in waives when I least expect it and I will continue to miss our conversations and friendship. I know he is here in spirit and hope that he can rest in peace.  He will forever live on in my heart and I will forever value the time that I got to spend with Matt.  My sincere condolences to all of his Evelyn, family, friends and everyone that got the pleasure of knowing Matt.  

I had the extreme pleasure of getting to know Matt through leasing space at ReadySpaces. He was one of the first people I met when I first moved to Portland. I could tell right off the bat that he was an incredibly hard working, dedicated, and intelligent person. He would be the first person to greet you with a friendly smile and a hello. His presence instantly put you in a good mood. Over the past year I’ve gotten to know him on a personal level with our countless trips to the taco truck right around the corner. It was an absolute honor to get to know him and I’m proud to call him a friend. My deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.

My heart goes out to Matt's family, including his mother Tami and little daughter Evelyn. I had the pleasure of meeting Tami and sharing memories of our dear Matt recently and she asked me to post an update here about the planned memorial service. Matt's family have chosen to have a private memorial gathering to honor Matt's life and to spread his ashes at Mt. Ranier, a place that was very special to both Matt and Evelyn.  

I'm also posting a picture of Matt as we at ReadySpaces remember him, from our company retreat in Cozumel, Mexico, a few months ago. We are still reeling from this incredible loss, but our lives are better for having known Matt. The world lost a kind, smart, inquisitive and caring man and a dedicated father, friend and family member. He will forever be remembered and missed.

I am so very sorry for your loss. I did not get to know Matt on a personal level other than it being very clear he was a kind, funny, inclusive, and generous human. I work with one of the companies that rent space in ReadySpaces, where Matt worked, and had the opportunity to be greeted by him each time I was there with a smile, wave, or friendly hello. He was always extremely responsive to any issues or feedback and always went above and beyond. It has been very evident that Matts's presence was missing from the workspace. The loss of Matt emphasizes to me the positive impact people can have on your life, even through seemingly small interactions like a nod or daily wave. Matt was one of the good ones and will be missed by many people, including myself.

Matt was one of the "good" guys.  Our company began renting at ReadySpaces Portland not long after Matt's appointment as General Manager.  He was a go-to guy; we only needed to make a request once and it was done almost before the request was done.  There was a family-type atmosphere that Matt created with his dedication and attention to detail from cleaning up the parking lot to security.  We were sad to lose Matt as the Portland General Manager and celebrated his rise to the Northwest Regional Manager where he quickly cleaned house at other ReadySpace locations where we rent spaces.  I extend my sincere sympathy to Matt's family.  His passing is a great loss to all who knew him.


My deepest condolences to his family and anyone who had the great pleasure of knowing Matt. He brought so much positivity and humor to everything. He took pride in his work and family which he spoke of often. Like everyone else, I am completely shocked and devastated of his sudden departure. I feel robbed of the friendship we were still building. Unfinished business. Matt has made a lasting impression and a true reminder to live for today because tomorrow is never promised. He will be dearly missed. 

My dear friend Matt, I still can't believe you're gone, just a few days ago we spoke and I heard your lively voice. Why did you have to leave so suddenly without even saying goodbye? 
You were always so bright and warm, my dear friend Matt. I'll cherish all the good times we had together and keep them close to my heart. I hope you can rest peacefully now without any worries in heaven.
I would like to offer my condolences to Matt's family as well. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. I can only imagine the pain and sadness you must be feeling right now. Matt was such a wonderful person and brought so much happiness and light into the world. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. May you find comfort and peace in the memories you shared together.

My condolences to his family and friends. Matt managed the warehouse facility where we have our business. I will miss our conversations; he was a wonderful person and was extremely helpful whenever we needed anything. He was an extremely hard worker; if I came in on the weekend, he would be there. Matt, you will be missed!

Sending my condolences for your massive loss. We worked with Matt - he managed the building where we run our business. I genuinely wish I knew him better and stopped to talk more often. What I do know of him in our short interactions is that he was thoughtful, proactive, generous with his time and energy, sincerely caring for the building and its members, and always went out of the way to say hello (or let me know I had a package waiting in the mailroom! ;]). How he kept track of all of the business’ needs and info is a mystery to me - shows how much he cared. Thank you Matt for making those long hard workdays a little brighter. You will be very missed by me and my whole team.
