Maydora Louise Westerlund Johnson

Maydora Louise Westerlund Johnson was born of Swedish descent in Portland, OR on April 27th, 1925. A devout Christian, she joyfully served most of her life as organist and pianist at Temple Baptist Church of Portland.

She began a lifelong career at Portland Public Schools at the old admin building at the age of 17. Her career continued with work at KPBS Radio and the majority of years at Atkinson Grade School.

She married her lifelong love, John Bertil Johnson with whom she spent the next 64 years.

They were blessed with four daughters, 11 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren who were the joys of their lives.

She was preceded in Heaven by Bert in 2010.

She is survived by her daughters, Lois (Roger) Johnson, Judy (Klaus) Siemieniec, Debra (Philip) Barrett, and Debbie (George) Smeraglio; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-great grandchildren.

A celebration of Maydora’s life will be held at Temple Baptist Church, 1319 NE 7th Ave, Portland, OR, on Friday, June 12, 2015, at 10am.

Maydora will be privately laid to rest in Skyline Memorial Gardens of Portland, OR.

Remembrances in lieu of flowers may be made to Temple Baptist Church for the musical, lake retreat, and mission ministries.
