Michael dedicated 37 years of service to TriMet, where he was respected for his strong work ethic and impeccable timekeeping. He carried out his responsibilities with integrity and was
known as someone who could always be relied upon.
Above all, Michael was most proud of his family. He found his greatest happiness when they were together, and it meant everything to him that his children and grandchildren were by his
side at the end of his life. His legacy will endure in the words he often shared with them: “Be strong.”
Michael had a lifelong appreciation for classic automobiles, especially his 1962 Chevrolet Impala SS. He was an avid collector of automotive memorabilia, enjoyed motorcycles, an ice-cold Heidelberg beer, and a good Western. He was rarely seen without a crisply ironed shirt and jeans.
He shared a special and enduring bond with his lifelong friend and former wife, Jane (Jerry), who remained a constant source of comfort and support throughout the years.
Michael is survived by Jane; his children, Lenny, Kelly, Mike, Rick, and Darren; his grandchildren, Jeff, Loren, and Haley; his great-grandchild, Ash; his sister, Joyce Svatos; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Chet and Rhoda
Crist; his brother, Dick; his sister, Judy; and his beloved canine companion, Susie.
A private graveside service honoring Michael’s life has been held.
