March 3, 1966 – January 3, 2026
Michael John Quinones, age 59, passed away on January 3, 2026. He was born on March 3, 1966, in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi, to George Allen Simao Sr. and Lucille Quiñones.
Michael was raised in Honolulu and graduated from President William McKinley High School. He continued his education with some college coursework at Hawaii Pacific College. It was in Honolulu where he met the love of his life, Gail, while working at Hawaiian Tel. They were married on October 22, 1991, and shared 34 devoted years together.
Michael was a hardworking man who held many jobs throughout his life, most notably spending 14 years at Cutter Auto before retiring in 2009. After retirement, he focused on faith, family, and the simple joys of life. He attended Church on the Hill in McMinnville, Oregon, where his love for God and his commitment to living a faithful life were evident to all who knew him.
A devoted husband and father, Michael was happiest spending time with his family. He enjoyed playing chess, blackjack, board games, and Magic: The Gathering with his boys. Known for his warm smile and classic dry “dad jokes,” conversations with Michael often began with his familiar phrase, “Let me ask you this…”.
Michael was also a talented cook, though he remained humble about his skills. As his eyesight declined, he lovingly taught Gail how to cook, demonstrating his patience, generosity, and deep care for his family.
Above all else, Michael was a protector and provider, a man who loved God first and his family fiercely. His happiness, kindness, and steady presence will be deeply missed.
Michael is survived by his beloved wife, Gail Quinones; his sons, Myka and John Quinones; and his father, George A. Simao Sr., and stepmother, Jamie Simao. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lucille Quinones, and his brother, George A. Simao Jr.
Michael’s legacy of faith, love, laughter, and devotion lives on through those who were blessed to know him.
