Michelle passed away peacefully in her sleep on the morning of March 13, 2025, after a three-year battle with colon cancer. She leaves behind her mother Linda, grandmother Nadine, husband Scott, son Gavin, sisters Jenny and Kim, uncle/aunt Bobby and Donna in addition to close friends and co-workers.
Everyone who knew Michelle as a loving, kindhearted and extremely caring person. She brought laughter, smiles and love to everyone. Her presence will be missed every day in the hearts of all who knew her.
Education and Work: Michelle grew up in Portland/Gresham attending school in the Centennial school district where she had many friends and loved to play soccer. After high school Michelle obtained a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Arts in Teaching. She had so many great memories of her high school and college experiences and friendships to draw from. Her degree eventually led her to a career at North Gresham Elementary School where she would work hard to make sure her classroom was organized, clean and structured for the children she taught. She loved teaching so much so that she continued to teach while she dealt with cancer when many others would have stopped.
Husband and Son: Michelle met her husband Scott in 2007 on a blind date and his son Gavin shortly after. She accepted Gavin fully as her own son, was so proud of him and loved him very much. If Michelle was not working or spending time with friends, she was with her family. Michelle and her husband were inseparable, spending all their free time doing everything together from getting coffee, grocery shopping, eating out or just doing their most favorite thing of all, taking afternoon naps together. Every year was spent vacationing in Hood River or on the Oregon Coast in Lincoln City and Cannon Beach. Scott always thought because he brought Gavin with him into their relationship that he was giving Michelle a life, but little did he know, it was the other way around that she was bringing Gavin and him a life full of love and memories that they will carry forward with them for the rest of their lives.
Mother and Nana: Michelle had a deep love for her mother Linda and nana Nadine. She thought about them constantly. They were always a full part of her life, and she loved any chance she could get to spend with them or shop for them. She loved her mother's cooking and had her favorite meals she would ask for on her birthday and holidays. Some of her best memories were camping, holidays or around the dining room table having conversations over a meal or playing card games.
Uncle and Aunt – Michelle had fond memories of spending time with Bobby and Donna, weather it was a dinner, swimming in their pool, playing card games or going to the casino, she was very proud to be their niece.
Sisters – Michelle loved spending sister time with Jenny and Kim and more recently enjoyed flying down with Jenny to see Kim in Las Vegas. The last trip they had together, she spoke about how much fun they had and all the great memories that she was lucky to have shared with them.
Michelle leaves behind a passionate love of the Portland Trail Blazers and Dutch Brothers blue raspberry blended rebel drink. In recent years, if you stopped and asked her favorite drink, that would be her answer. The above brought her smiles and was a great comfort for her as she went through the difficult days of dealing with her cancer. For those who wish to honor Michelle, please consider purchasing this drink or tuning into a Blazers game and while you enjoy it, take a moment to remember all the great memories you had with her.
