Milton Dean Headings

Born October 10, 1947

On June 23, 2013, Milton passed from this life to his eternal life with God. Milton Dean Headings was first born to Samuel G and Barbara A (Schlegel) Headings on September 10, 1947 in Albany, Oregon. He graduated from Western Mennonite High School in 1965. He attended Hesston College, in Hesston, Kansas and graduated from San Francisco College of Mortuary Science, in San Francisco, California. He earned his Masters degree in Counseling from Western Evangelical Seminary, Portland, Oregon. He worked as a funeral director and embalmer for several funeral homes in Oregon for 15 years. During seminary and after graduating from seminary he was pastor of adult education and did counseling at First Church of the Nazarene in Salem, Oregon. He was Associate Pastor of Bloomington Church of the Nazarene in Bloomington, California. There he was principal of their Kindergarten through 12th grade school and did counseling. He pastored Gentle Spirit MCC Church in Chicago, Illinois. After leaving full-time ministry he was Director of an adolescent unit in a psychiatric hospital in Aurora, Illinois, was director of HIV testing and counseling at Howard Brown Health Center in Chicago, Illinois, and Director of Counseling Services at Home Access Health Center doing testing and counseling for HIV in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. From there, he moved to San Francisco where he was Director of Client Volunteer Services for Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Churches AIDS ministry. Since moving back to Portland, he worked for Portland General Electric in Customer Service. He was also on the pastoral care staff at MCC Portland.

Milton was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Headings and his Barbara Headings. He is survived by two sisters, Starla Beck, Neosho, Missouri and MaryAnne Zoss, Low Point, Illinois; and a brother, Glen Headings, Amity, Oregon. He is also survived by his children Kristine & Matt Stein, Gresham, Oregon; Joylyn & Joshua Michaud, Salem, Oregon; Juliann & Scotty Ingersoll, Spokane, Washington; and son and daughter-in-law Don and Maureen Joaquin, Beecher, Illinois. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren and a big extended family.
