Our beloved, Ms. Margie Norman, was born on August 24th, 1938 in Eutaw, Alabama to the parents of Jimmy and Maggie Dunn. Early on in her childhood, her family migrated to Vanport, WA with her late siblings Berneice, Ruby, Rebecca, Shirley, and Jimmielee Dunn while she remained behind with her grandparents Muggie and Rubin Davis. There to support her was her Aunt Nancy “Tiki” Davis, cousins Rubin “Sunny” Davis, Claire and Georgia Woodbridge, and Barbara Kelly. At 15, Margie moved to Portland, Oregon to be reunited with her birth mother and siblings in July of 1954.
While in Portland, Margie attended Roosevelt High School. During this time, she had the opportunity to rebond with her siblings, finish school, enjoy her hobbies such as sewing, knitting, and developed a passion for cooking that has been passed on throughout generation to generation. Over the years, Margie became very domesticated, developed a skill of ironing so well the clothes could get up and walk themselves.
By 1957, Margie had birthed 3 children, Terry Lynn Norman, Penny Yvonne Manns and after 42 years long years of sorrow, she was reunited with her eldest child that she had last known as Kenny, today known as Billy Parker, born June 4th, 1955. Over the years, Penny and Terry recall their mother constantly reminding them of his name and birth date in hopes of one day finding him and in 1997, her prayers were answered. Margie, Bill, Terry and Penny reunited as a family bringing together a host of beautiful children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
September 23rd, just a month after her 84th birthday, our grandmother transitioned to be with her mother and father, siblings, grandparents and grandson, Manson Branch. Margie and that beautiful vibrant smile of hers leaves to cherish her son Willinton “Bill” Parker, daughters Terri Norman and Penny Norman-Manns, eight grand-children Chaulaunda Thorne, I’Eisha Parker, Chanika Branch, Dionne Parker, Rolanda Jordan, Latosha Parker, Danielle Norman and Naomi Parker, (11) great-grandchildren, Turon Walker, Kaelin Pierce, Khadijah Harden, Mikayla and Saniya Taylor, Khalil Osbin, Nikko Parker & Remy Parker, David Ferguson, Aaryne and Kamryn Washington and five great-great grandchildren Sloane, Kennedy, Zuri, Amara, the newest edition to the family Xyla, and a host of loving nieces and nephews.
