“Going down the road apiece,” from buckboards and horses to jets and space travel, our Mother saw it all. On the morning of June 5, 2012 at 5:03 am, Neva Katherine Steinert made her final trip in the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Born in Wichita Falls Texas on July 8, 1923, she grew up on a small farm in N. Texas surrounded by sister – Marian and brothers –Marvin, Gerald, Harold and Gene. Neva married our Dad, Leeroy Steinert on April 4, 1942 in San Diego, CA. Through much prayer, together they survived WWII, the Korean War and Vietnam. The family followed Lee from coast to coast to coast throughout his USMC career. Upon arrival at a new posting, the highest priority was always to find our new church home. Upon retirement from his second career as a police officer, Lee, Neva and Sheila moved to West Linn OR. Neva is survived by her 3 children - Frances, Phillip and Sheila; 4 grandchildren - Katherine (Kari), Michael, Jacob and Joshua; 2 great grandchildren – Annalise and Carson, her sister and 3 of her brothers and a plethora of nieces and nephews. Harold was already waiting for Neva’s heavenly arrival.
Neva was a homemaker dedicating her life to raising her children. Later when grandchildren came into the picture, she was always willing to babysit and truly loved spending time with each of her children’s children! She will continue to watch over all of us from her mansion in Heaven.
A memorial service, with reception to follow, will be held on 16 June 2012 at 1:00 PM at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 795 E. Powell, Gresham, OR 97030.
