Let’s talk about the Nick we all knew; (AKA Wayne). After graduating from Washington Tech High School in St. Louis, Missouri, Nick married the late Lenora Wiley. He then began his military service in the U.S. Marine Corps and also started his family of three loving children at the Marine Corps Base, Barstow, California. Nick and his family spent many years at Barstow and eventually retired as a Master Sergeant (E-8) after serving over 23 years and traveling to many countries of the world.
Nick adopted a son and relocated to Portland, Oregon where he began a career as a truck driver for P.I.E. , CF, and Peneske Trucking Companies. He then met Helen Anderson, they married and became a blended family, “which he adored”, for over 25 years. Nick enjoyed fixing things around his home and could be very creative. He was an inventor and developed all kinds of fixtures for his yard. He was very proud of his garden and grew a wide variety of plant items. Nick also loved to travel, go on fishing trips, and camping in his motor home. If you mentioned the word “vacation’, he would just say “let’s go”. Like the old song, he would answer, “I’ll Be There”.
Life ended too soon for Nick, he had a lot more to share with family and friends. He will always be remembered for his dry sense of humor, his 12 pack (not abs), and his ability to talk non-stop for hours.
Leaving to honor his memory are his daughters, Debra Anderson, Melinda Williams (Glenn), Tracy Bonner; sons, Kevin D. Anderson (Anna), Sampson Anderson. Loving cousins, Lucretia and Donnie Stringer, Esther Brown and Sandie Ellington brother, Tommie Anderson (Carlene); sister, Juanita Casimere and Wanda Trotter, sister-in-law Pamela Straw (Elijah), mother-in-law Estella Jones, brother-in-law Gerald Burns, and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many friends. Nick also leaves to mourn a very loving, caring, and devoted wife, Helen, who truly loved and cared for Nick unselfishly. Rest well my love you’ll be forever missed.
