

Odessa Suzanne Novak, 92, of Portland, passed away July 11, 2014. She was born in Noble, Louisiana on February 15, 1922 to Pat and Lucinda (Meshell) Lopez. She met her husband Fred Novak in Fork Polk, Louisiana during WWII; and from their union they had one child, Patrick Novak.
Odessa devoted her life to what matter most to her, which was faith, family and her community. Odessa was a gifted cook and gardener. She was involved in many clubs and community organizations, and she enjoyed participating in fundraisers at her church and her son’s school. Odessa was also an avid reader of political books and stayed engaged in what was going on both locally and nationally, until her passing.
Odessa was preceded in death by her husband Fred Novak. She is survived by her son, Pat Novak; sisters, Marie Morgan of Sillsbee, Texas, Oris Dell Remedies of Zwolle, Louisiana; and brother Thomas Douglass Lopez of Las Vegas, Nevada and "many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews and friends. Odessa will be laid to rest at St. Wenceslaus cemetery in Scappoose, OR on Monday, July 21, 2014 at 12pm.
