Opal Marie Russell, née Rains, born in Salem, MT, April 28, 1920, passed peacefully on March 15, 2016 at 95 years old in Oregon City, OR. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gifford A. Russell, and her brother, Ervin Rains. She is survived by her nephew's wife, Ione Russell, of Park City, KS, as well as cousins and relatives. Opal was well loved by her friends and caregivers at McLoughlin Place, including Bobbie, Lynne, and Frannie. She was a laboratory technician for Kaiser Permanente in the eleven years before her retirement, and ran a successful seaside restaurant, Russell's Cafe, in the decades before that. She will be laid to rest at Finley-Sunset Hills Mortuary in Portland. There will be no service, and please consider donations to the Portland Police Bureau Sunshine Division in lieu of flowers.
