Opal Wheeler was born on August 19, 1918 in Enid, Oklahoma, to William David Turner and Iva Rea Cummings. Mr. Turner was a brick mason, so Opal spent a lot of her childhood moving from place to place. After settling in Portland, Opal went to the Girls Polytechnic School. Later in life she spent 20 years involved with the PTA.
Opal is survived by her son Jim Wheeler, his wife Marilyn, and her daughter Rea along with Rea's husband Marshall. Jim and Marilyn have two children named Tim Wheeler and Heather Enyart and two grandchildren named Faith and Grace Enyart. Rea and Marshall have three children named Bobbi Allen, Matthew Short and Mark Short along with two grandchildren named Alastaire and Mitchell Allen. Opal is also survived by a sister Priscella Cauvel. Opal is preceded in death by her husband James Wheeler and brothers Ralph, Eugene, William and Ken Turner.
