

Bill Lindahl passed away Saturday, December 31, 2011. He died at an adult foster care home in Milwaukie Oregon. He was 91. He was a supportive son, dedicated brother and all around wonderful uncle to 24 nieces and nephews.
Bill was one of ten children born to Oscar W. Lindahl, Sr. and Fannie Shatto Lindahl. He is survived by his brother John Edward Lindahl of Eureka, California and sisters Joyce Richards of Pasadena, California and Greta Norton of Portland, Oregon.
He was born on the family farm nine miles northwest of Linnton, Oregon. Bill graduated from Skyline School and went to work helping provide for his family during the Great Depression. He worked as a carpenter and farmer throughout his life. Bill served in the US Army in the European Theater where he was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received in combat during operations in France while with the 607th Tank Destroyer Battalion. Bill remained a bachelor and after returning from the War, lived for years on a family farm in Colton, Oregon, where he helped and later cared for both of his parents.
Bill was an avid sportsman and enjoyed both hunting and fishing. In later years he moved to Milwaukie, Oregon and was known as “Bronco Bill” at his favorite fishing spot at Meldrum Bar at the mouth of the Clackamas River.
A memorial will be held at Willamette National Cemetery, Jan 20, 2011 at 1:30 PM. Arrangements are being handled by Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home.
