

Owen was born in Portland to Oren and Hazel Street, and moved to Milwaukie in grade school. He graduated from Milwaukie High School and lettered in cross country all four years. He enlisted in the US Navy, and served as a radioman on the USS Neshanic in the Pacific theatre during World War II. After the war, he graduated from Lewis & Clark College and worked at Crown Zellerbach paper mill then Levitz Furniture.
Owen married Ethel Fields, who preceded him in death. In 1962, he married Gayle Sanderson, and they celebrated their 57th anniversary in December 2019. He has six children: David Street, Sheila Winner, Don Street, Dale Street, Sheryl Blackman and Steve Street. Owen loved to play golf and slide butt gin with his buddies at Top O’ Scott golf course. He played softball, basketball, and bowled and hunted. He loved his pets; especially dogs, Sport and Buckwheat. He was preceded in death by son Don and is survived by wife Gayle, five children, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Owen will be privately interred in Willamette National Cemetery. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date to celebrate his life and service to his country.
