

She was born in Los Angeles, California, of Clyde Camille Smith and J D Tuttle on September 7, 1948. Patricia graduated from high school in Rota, Spain, and attended Clackamas Community College. She graduated with her RN in the school's very first nursing class.
Patti worked as a nurse for fifteen years, mostly in orthopedics at Holiday Park Hospital. She became a nurse mental-health counselor for the last 15 years of her working life. As a counselor, she helped hundreds of adults who had suffered childhood trauma and veterans who suffered from post traumatic stress disorder.
Patti's passions were gardening and reading. She worked long hours in the gardens of her home in northwest Portland. After she retired to Beavercreek, she focused mainly on her widely diverse reading interests.
Previously married to Craig Raymond Hills, with whom she had her two children, at the time of her passing, she was married to William Kent Burtner, whom she married in 1994.
She is survived by her daughter, Elisabeth Denise Coates and son, Geoffrey Matthew Hills, son-in-law Jesse Coates, and grandchildren Elijah Dakota Coates, Jeremiah Damon Coates and Erik Lee Coates.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at St. James Catholic Church, Molalla, Oregon on January 4, 2022, at 11 a.m., with reception following. Inte¬rment will be at Gethsemani Cemetery in Happy Valley at 3:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held at St. James Parish Hall on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at 2:00 p.m., where family and friends will be invited to share their recollections of Patti.
