Patricia Ann Phillips, 85, died on March 14, 2026. Born on September 3, 1940, in Portland, Oregon, she was the daughter of Jim and Bessie Timmons and was raised in the Portland area. She attended Beverly Cleary Elementary School and Grant High School. Known as “Pat” by most of her friends, and as “Patty” by her husband, she will be remembered with deep respect and enduring affection.
Pat built a steady and valued career as a legal secretary, serving with diligence and care. Her longest-held position was at the law offices of Milton O. Brown, where her reliability and thoughtful attention to detail were evident to all who worked with her.
On May 15, 1996, Pat married Mike Phillips. They had known each other for a decade before marrying, and their ceremony was officiated by their close friend Clifford, a local judge. She is survived by her husband, Mike, who lives in Warrenton, Oregon.
In the rhythms of everyday life, Pat found meaning and joy in simple, faithful routines: taking walks, reading books, collecting magazines, exercising, and spoiling her cat, Maggie. Raised Baptist, she attended Grant Park Church in NE Portland.
Pat was beloved for her compassionate and kind-hearted presence—patient, generous, and easy to talk to. She was a great listener, and her thoughtful manner was often accompanied by a warm sense of humor that made others feel at ease. Her love for animals was a constant in her life, and she took particular delight in the wild elk that would visit her backyard to eat the apples on the ground that fell from her apple tree.
Pat’s ashes are interred at Skyline Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Donations in Pat’s name can be sent to Sunshine Division, a Portland non-profit organization she supported, that provides food and other basic resources to families in need.
