Patricia Anne Shanahan

Pat was born in Colville, WA to George and Elgin Stanley. She graduated from Colville High School in May of 1945. She attended college at Washington State College (now WSU) and received a degree in Home Economics Education in 1949. She taught Home Economics at Battleground High School for 2 years after college.

On August 12, 1950, she married Lloyd W. Shanahan, at Battleground Catholic Church. They moved to Portland in 1951 and lived in the Parkrose area. Pat and Lloyd had 2 children, Nancy Jean (Gattuccio) and Timothy Allen.

Pat was the 4th of 5 children. She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Elgin, her husband Lloyd, brother Harvey and sisters Lois and Edith (Foos).

She is survived by her sister, Jean (St. John), her daughter Nancy and son Timothy. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, three from Nancy and John, Nikki (Sternberger, Chris), Jay and Sam and three from Timothy and Monica, Ian (Jeri), Paul and Kevin (Holly) plus 11 great grandchildren.

Pat also worked for the David Douglas School District for 12 years with most of that time in Title 1.

Pat and Lloyd joined St. Rita Catholic Church, where they were lifelong, active members. Pat remained very involved, she served as a Eucharistic Minister, served in the Choir, helped with the Annual Bazaar, Spaghetti Dinner, Funeral receptions, she was Women's Guild Treasurer for over 50 years, and she was an integral part of the Banner Committee, helping to design and construct the church's exquisite altar banners. She will be deeply missed in the St. Rita Community.

Pat was buried at Willamette Cemetery on November 15th, 2022, at a private ceremony. A memorial service for Pat will be held at St. Rita Catholic Church (10029 NE Prescott) on December 14th, 2022, at 11:00 am with a Rosary starting at 10:30 am. The memorial service will be followed by a reception.
