Our beloved Patricia Carol Smith, age 61 passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family September 7, 2010, after a seven and a half year battle with cancer. She was born December 3, 1948 to the late Benjamin Jeskey and Evelyn Mooney Jeskey. Pat attended Aurora grade school and graduated from North Marion High School in 1967. Pat worked for the Canby Herald and in advertising at J.C. Penny. She met the love of her life, Lewis 'Skip' Smith at a party in 1970 and they were married in November 1971. Pat then stayed home to raise her 2 children, Marvin and Ann Marie. In 1983, she and Skip opened their business, Installer's Floorcovering.
Pat's smile lit up a room. She loved getting together with her friends and family, dancing, shopping and traveling to new places. Pat was known for the famous rolls she made for holiday dinners. Pat's greatest pleasure was spending time with her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who was eternally optimistic, a beacon of inspiration to those around her, and one who never found a reason to complain. Pat's unwavering faith and sunny outlook allowed her to enjoy life, family, and friends every day.
As a family we were blessed to be able to spend many wonderful moments together. You were our rock, our peacekeeper, and our shining light. We will miss you so much.
We would like to thank everyone for the abundant food, telephone calls, flowers, cards and prayers. Your love and support are deeply appreciated.
Pat is survived by her husband Skip, her son Marvin, her daughter Ann Marie, her daughter-in-law Margo and her two shining star grandchildren Nathan and Foster Smith. She is also survived by her brothers Robert, Wayne and Gordon Jeskey, as well as numerous other relatives, and many wonderful friends.
Memorial services will be held on Monday, September 13, 2010, at 1:30 at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 1700 NE 132nd Ave., Portland, OR.
