Pat attended Queen of Angels grade school and Amundsen High school. She spent the summers traveling up to their family country home on Delavan Lake in southern Wisconsin. As any Chicago native Pat loved the cubs, she attended the 1945 Chicago World Series where the Curse of the Billy Goat originated. Pat had a love for Swing Era music, she loved artists like Judy Garland and Frank Sinatra, and she even skipped school once to see Frank Sinatra at the Chicago Theater.
In 1949 she moved to Portland, her first job here was at St. Vincent Hospital and later at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eugene. On May 7th, 1951 she married Edward R Halpin, they had two son’s Scott and Todd. Pat spent many years working as a waitress at various restaurants throughout Portland including, Poor Richard’s Restaurant, Prime Rib Restaurant and Captain’s Corner Restaurant. After her divorce in 1961 she met Dushan (BOB) Stanich, they later married on September 29th, 1968 and were married for 20 years until Bob’s passing in 1988.
Pat was very involved in her community, she joined Emblem Club in 1973 where she maintained a long commitment and was even Portland Oregon Emblem Club President from 1979-1980 and Oregon State Association of Emblem Clubs President 1992-1993.
Pat was full of life and adventurous, she once took a helicopter ride over Columbia River gorge, went hot air ballooning over California wine country, tested out the space chair ride at Kennedy Space Center in Florida, rode an elephant through yucca valley California, and flew in a news plane while reporting on traffic conditions in Palm Springs California. Pat was daring and fearless and was always ready for the next adventure.
Survived by Sons Scott Edward Halpin, Todd Robert Halpin, daughter-in-laws Mary & Donna and Grandsons, Steve, Kyer, Matt and Paul.
