

Paul Adrian Hettervig passed away on June 20, 2013, after a long illness with Alzheimers. Paul was born in Buxton, North Dakota on Jan. 15, 1929, to Melvin & Gena (Gunlikson) Hettervig. Paul grew up in Buxton, working for his father who owned a Grayline business there. He joined the Army in 1951 and served in Germany during the North Korean War. He was married on Dec. 27, 1954 to Phyllis Langton, and they moved to Portland, Oregon in 1956. Here they raised a family of four children, and Paul owned and ran a gas station in Eastmorland for 49 years.
Paul was a respected businessman, and was loved by the entire community. He sold his business in 2005 and moved to Tygh Valley, Oregon, where Phyllis & he had built a home. When Phyllis passed away in 2006, Paul remained in Tygh Valley until illness forced him to move to Portland, where he lived close to his children. He will always be remembered for his honesty, hard work, and loyalty to his family.
Paul is survived by his four children, Paula Barker, Peggy Potter, Paul Hettervig Jr., and Mark Hettervig, all of the Portland and surrounding area. Also three sisters and one brother. He has five grandchildren and one great grandchild. A Service of Remembrance will be held in his honor at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 11801 SE Mt. Scott Blvd., Portland OR 97086 on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at 11:30am.
