

Peggy was born July 30th, 1932 to Hilton Hershey Hollingsworth and Winifred Leora Moritz Hollingsworth in Sandpoint, Idaho, the second youngest of six children. In 1936, the family moved to Oregon and ultimately Ashland, where Peggy attended school, graduating from Ashland High School. Following her graduation, she moved to the Portland area and attended Portland State College. Peggy married Lorin Paul Giese, March 1, 1953 in Vancouver, Washington. They were later divorced. The marriage produced a daughter, Sandra Margene born September 12, 1956. Professionally Peggy worked in banking for several area banks, retiring from U.S. Bank of Oregon as manager of Item Processing Department. While employed as a teller at the Hollywood Branch of the First National Bank, she had the dubious distinction of being robbed. Fortunately she was not injured. Her passion and avocation was painting. She was honored with numerous awards and sold a number of her works. Peggy enjoyed travel and with her daughter Sandy was able to travel to Europe fulfilling a lifelong dream visiting London and Paris. Peggy Caroline Giese passed away at Powell Valley Assisted Living in Gresham, Oregon, the morning of Tuesday, January 25th following a sudden illness. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Margene Howe, son-in-law, Jerry Howe, two step children, Thomas Giese and Lori Holmes, sisters Helen Calhoun, Phyllis McCart, Betty White, a brother Bill Hollingsworth, seven grandchildren and nine great grand children. A sister, Margie Struckmeyer preceded her in death.
