So sorry to hear the sad news about Peter. He will be dearly. May all the wonderful memories you shared together help to comfort you all in the days ahead. And most of all, may the God of Love, comfort you with His promise of Hope for the future.

I was privledged to know Peter and in the process meet the three of you. What a beatiful Celebration of his Life tonight at SW Bible church. Peter will always have a special place in my heart.   Hope to talk to you soon Kim.

I was really surprised  to hear about Peter's passing as we had lost touch over the years and I did not know he was sick.  
I remember fondly the years we worked together at Kaiser and your hospitality as you hosted several of our Christmas parties at your home.  Please, accept my sincere condolences and I hope that you and the kids find comfort in the love and care of family and friends.

Peter was a special friend to me; we met on the athletic fields at Waldo Junior High late in the summer of 1972. During our high school years, I was a frequent visitor to the Coons home where I grew to know his parents and brothers and sisters, with whom I have been fortunate to remain in contact with and have shared many special occasions.

Growing up, Peter worked in his parent's hardware store and developed a knack for using tools and working on motors; he enjoyed things mechanical, especially motorcycles and BMW cars. When we got our licenses, we bought street motorcycles. We had our own circuit, which wound its way through the farmland and hop fields in Keizer, the "Windsor Island Loop". The Loop was our own version of the Isle of Man course. There, we would crack the throttle wide open down its long straight-aways. I took great pains to either get out ahead of Peter or to pass him at the first opportunity, otherwise, his two-stroke Suzuki would envelop me in cloud of blue smoke.

We shared a dream about driving across the country on touring motorcycles. A few years ago, Peter took an extensive refresher course on motorcycle safety and riding and bought a BMW motorcycle, and, then later, a Triumph motorcycle, he was a go-getter. Peter and I were able to take several road trips in Oregon. He enjoyed the beauty and majesty of the outdoors. Driving throughout Oregon with him in his car was memorable. Each time, before we left, Peter would have meticulously gone-through his car, ensuring that it was ready for the road, not a speck of dust inside or out. He had a great sense of humor and would rib me for my inefficient job of packing for these outings, which I'm afraid was true.

These drives led us to Bend, Hood River, Eugene, Newport and to Tillamook Bay, where Peter landed a 27 pound salmon! We hiked around Smith Rock State Park, what a view. We started meeting at Marcos Café, in Multnomah Village, where, over breakfast and coffee, we caught up on the goings-on in our lives. Peter loved the outdoors and enjoyed exploring it on his motorcycle or in his BMW.

Peter led an active spiritual life and was a committed husband and father, single-minded in his devotion; strong, in a caring and protective way. He was a doer in life, and a doer of the Word. He focused on the important things and his attention to family and faith was consummate; to his wife Kimberly, to his children Chris and Courtney, to his career with Intel and to the affairs of his household. His fine qualities live on.

He and Kim would extend invitations for me to join their family and Lou for special occasions. Three years ago, while seated together at Blazer game, I received a text message, then several more. It was Peter, who was sitting next to me sending an ongoing commentary on the game via text messages; what a sense of humor, hilarious!

Every now and then, Peter would send me a witty one-sentence text, which would cause me to break out in laughter. Other times, he would let me know that he was praying for me during a difficult season of my life, or, most recently to wish me a Happy New Year in 2011. Sometimes he would just share his heart when he messaged me, "I miss our getting together." In life, if you are fortunate you will have a few good friends. He was my closest friend; I am thankful for Peter and the times we got together, because for me, they were the best parts of the last several years. I will miss him greatly.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family.  I actually went to St. Vincent De Paul with Peter.  He was in my older sister (Laurie's) grade...We lost her a year ago.  I remember him well.  I am very sorry to hear of his passing.

Joy and I were deeply saddened by Peter's death.  I always admired his integrity and wisdom.  I count myself fortunate to have worked with Peter over the years at both KP and Intel.  

Today, I shared with my current team at World Vision some of Peter's humor and, in particular, his "boss plus five rule" he established when we were auditors together at KP. 

The "boss plus five" was that when Holly left for the day, Peter would have us wait five minutes for her to clear out and then we could leave.  Then Peter because Director and the rest of us tried to apply the same rule.  However, it backfired on us because Peter caught us in the parking lot.  Peter had left the building but would be out working under the hood of his car and catch us as we left.  We had many laughs over that incident. 

Our prayers will continue to go out to you and the children.

Dear Kim,
It has been many years since we connected, but both Anne and I were saddened by the news of Peter's death.  He was a great guy and good friend.  We did not connect since we left Salem in April of 1986 but we thought of you both often.  Peter got me a job at the family hardware store and we had many good times together.  We remember many good times at GO.  We send our sincerest condolences and prayers.   WE are at your disposal.  With sincerest regards
