In Singureni, a small village south of Bucharest, Romania, Petre was the first of seven children born to Maria and Gheorghe. As the eldest child, he grew to be a role model and was loved by his parents and siblings alike. Petre excelled in school and took particularly well to electronics.
After his required military service, Petre married the love of his life, Magdalena Ilies, and the Lord blessed them with four wonderful children. Narcis and Ovidiu were born in his native country, while Jennifer and Sharon were born in his adopted country, the United States. He strived to raise his children in the knowledge and ways of the Lord.
He settled his family just east of Boise, Idaho in 1981, where he continued his passion in electronics at Micron Technology, working as a lead test technician. At age 42, Petre and Magdalena moved to Portland, Oregon to increase opportunities for their children. Petre’s interests reverted to his childhood passions and pursued endeavors in construction, woodworking and all manner of labor involving his hands.
He peacefully passed into eternity on Wednesday, January 8, surrounded by his wife of 46 years and all four children, joined by their families. His legacy currently includes 12 grandchildren, who adore their grandfather and will deeply miss him.
