She was born on May 17, 1977, in Portland, Oregon to Edward and Michele Everitt. She graduated from Roosevelt High School with the class of 1995, then went on to graduate from Ashmead College as a massage therapist. Although she never pursued massage as a career, family and friends all benefitted from her training and experience.
For many years, Rachel worked in retail and was a very successful store manager at several different shops. Her greatest career accomplishment was working with a year-round theatrical costume shop. It was a small start-up business, but Rachel’s hard work and dedication helped it grow and flourish. She was active in the Vancouver Business Community, and she held multiple Christian affiliations.
When she wasn’t hard at work, Rachel loved spending time gardening and traveling. Her creative spirit led her to pursue many creative hobbies, including photography, sewing, painting, and sign-making.
Rachel met Joseph Chatterley through a blind date that their friends set up. The two fell in love and were married at Cannon Beach on August 19, 2007.
As a person, Rachel was incredibly loving and kind, and that love was reciprocated by everyone who knew her. If, somehow, someone didn’t instantly love her, she would find ways to show how much she loved them and would earn their love and trust. She was truly beautiful, inside and out.
Rachel will forever be remembered for her joy and happiness, her boundless capacity for unconditional love, and her instant friendship. She was an amazing mother, wife, sister, daughter, and friend.
Rachel is survived by her husband, Joseph Chatterley; her daughter Taylor Gookins; and her brother Edward Philip Everitt.
Charitable donations may be made in Rachel’s memory to the Pink Lemonade Project.
A Celebration of Life will be held on July 20, 2024, with more details to come.
