Ralph Arthur Holmes was born in Sheridan, Oregon on February 19, 1921 and passed away on May 15th in Vancouver, Washington. A lifetime member of American Legion, Mr. Holmes was a very patriotic man. He served in the Navy during WWII, earning an American Area Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Area Campaign Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal and World War II Victory Medal. He could always be found tinkering and inventing and had a life-long love of roller skating, something he continued doing well into his 80s. He was a compassionate and caring man who was married to his loving wife for almost 50 years before she passed away in 1990. Ralph is preceded in death by his wife, Mabel Ellen Holmes. He is survived by his daughter, Judy Munoz; his son, David Holmes; 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. A committal service will be held at Willamette National Cemetery on Wednesday, June 10th at 10:30am.
