Ralph Ephraim Holt passed away at his residence in Portland, Oregon on Friday morning, May 7th, 2021. He was 100 years old. Ralph was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts to Ellen F. Searle and John Holt on December 8th, 1920.
At the start of WWII, Ralph joined the Army Air Force, where he served as a flight instructor. In 1945, Ralph married Dorothy Enid Haller in Bryant, Texas. After the war, Ralph and his wife Dorothy attended Syracuse University, where he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
Upon graduating from Syracuse, Ralph and Dorothy moved to Ohio, where their sons Robert and John were born. Ralph found work as a mechanical engineer with a firm that would eventually move the family 'out west' to the town of Red Bluff, California. While working in Red Bluff, Ralph went back to school and earned his Professional Engineering degree, leading him to a new job with a Canadian based engineering firm in Portland, Oregon. He retired as President of the American arm of the firm in 1983.
Ralph is predeceased by his loving wife of 73 years, Dorothy, and is survived by his two sons, Robert Holt of Portland and John Holt of Hillsboro.
