Raymond Michael Beigh was the first-born to Bernice Alice Higgins Beigh and Ralph Raymond Beigh. He was born November 1, 1931 in Glendale, CA. He entered into eternal rest on the morning of November 30, 2012 at Southwest Medical Center in Vancouver, WA after a short illness. As a child the family traveled to many areas of the United States as their father was transferred by his company from state to state to build dams, highways, bridges, tunnels and canals. Changing schools every 1-2 years was a way of life. Learning about the new area, the new job, where the best fishing holes were, and making new friends were the challenges for each move. Even as a young boy, Raymond was industrious. He often found himself a job. One job was taking weekly orders for grasshoppers for the weekend fishermen. He shined shoes for servicemen and sold Saturday Evening Post magazines door-to-door. The year Raymond entered high school, the family moved to the Sunnyside community and later Raymond graduated from Milwaukie Union High School. He entered the U.S. Army shortly thereafter. When he was honorably discharged from the army, he went to work for Boeing where he was a loyal, dedicated employee for over 40 years. In his retirement years, he would chuckle about having a reserved parking space at Boeing. He was most proud of the mounted airplane steering wheel presented to him at his retirement celebration. He loved little children and was so happy to shave his own three daughters: Debbie, Shelley, and Kathy Beigh. He was a loving and caring father. After retiring from Boeing, he moved to Prineville, Oregon where he could enjoy his outdoor pastimes. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and bow hunting, He love animals, and pets were always a part of his life. He always enjoyed sharing knowledgeable facts about the animal world. Sports were a big part of his interest. He loved watching sports and going to games. When he moved to Vancouver to be near his daughters, he enjoyed attending many Trailblazers games. He will be remembered in our hearts always as a kind, caring, loving and philosophical soul. He was preceded in death by his parents and his nephew, Jimmy Hein. He is survived by his daughters, Debbie and Kathy Beigh of Portland, Shelley Beigh of Vancouver WA, his two sisters Betty Beigh Lodmell of Walla Walla, WA and Kay Beigh Hein of Willits, CA in addition to two nieces and four nephews.
