Raymond Ambrose Hall

Born and raised in Natick, Massachusetts, Ray graduated from Natick High School before serving his country in the United States Navy from October 1965 to June 1971 aboard the USS Gunston Hall (LSD-5). A proud Vietnam veteran, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal in recognition of his military service.

Following his time in the Navy, Ray built a remarkable career spanning more than five decades as a journeyman plumber. His work with Tektronix, Washington Group, S.R. Johnson, and Cascade Mechanical earned him the respect of coworkers and clients alike. He was known not only for his exceptional craftsmanship but also for the pride he took in mentoring others and sharing his knowledge.

Ray was an avid outdoorsman in his prime. He enjoyed golfing, camping, hunting, fishing, and working with his hands. Some of his fondest memories were made on the Oregon Coast, where he spent countless hours alongside family and friends building the family's beloved beach home. A hockey player well into his forties, Ray also loved grilling, earning the well-deserved reputation as the family's "grill master." He was a devoted dog lover and rarely missed an opportunity to enjoy the outdoors.

Ray was truly larger than life. His presence is felt in the everyday moments - through his memorable one-liners, his thoughtful advice, his love of sports, and the countless lessons he shared with those around him. All who knew Ray could attest to how much his mentorship and respect meant, and each of us carries forward a piece of his legacy.

Ray is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Maureen (O'Brien) Hall; his children Darrel Hall and his wife Elise of Milwaukie, Oregon; Jason Hall and his wife Julie of South Jordan, Utah; Kelly Busa of Aloha, Oregon; Kristan King and her husband Scott of Marlborough, Massachusetts; and daughter-in-law Tawnie Pittenger and her husband Eli of Aloha, OR. He was the proud grandfather of Mary and her husband Kennedy, Will and his wife Makiah, Gavin, Thomas, Kalie, Alyssa, Michael, Matthew, and Jacob, and the cherished great-grandfather of Madelynn and Soleia. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Carol Rosenau and her husband Doug; his former wife, Karen Anderson; and several beloved nieces and nephews. Ray was preceded in death by his son, Sean Busa, and his sisters, June Hall and Jean Ordway.

His family will hold a private burial service at Willamette National Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be announced and held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to the ASPCA or the Wounded Warrior Project, two causes that were close to Ray's heart.
