Richard Norman Henshaw

He was born September 26, 1956, in Portland, Oregon, to Tom and Katherine Jane Henshaw.

He attended Beaverton High School, graduating in 1975, before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. Originally stationed in Japan, he faithfully served our country for four years as a motor transport specialist. As a Marine he won multiple powerlifting tournaments and qualified as a sharpshooter.

In 1980, he enrolled at Portland Community College and later went on to the University of Oregon. It was on the archery range, at PCC, that he met his one true love and wife, Annette Grosz. They were married on June 4, 1983. They purchased a 100 year old fixer upper home in the Rose City Park neighborhood, where they raised three children.

Richard was a licensed ham radio operator with a passion for collecting radios. Additionally, he was a skilled outdoorsman, possessing a great love for the beauty of the Pacific Northwest, where he enjoyed many hunting and fishing trips with his family. He thoroughly enjoyed a round of golf, especially with his only brother, Rob.

He was a gentleman, known for his unique sense of humor, and friendly personality. Often, he was referred to by many as the nicest guy. Richard was always willing to fix a car, a leaky faucet, or share his wisdom and words of encouragement. He loved his Lord, wife, children, and grandchildren with all his heart.

Richard is survived by his wife, Annette of 43 years; children, Alex Henshaw (Tisha), Samantha Jaques (John), and Max Henshaw; grandchildren, Ivy & Ford Jaques; brother, Rob Henshaw; his many nieces and nephews; and a large circle of extended family and friends. All of whom he loved dearly.

Richard was truly a kind spirit and will be greatly missed.
