Through his 40 plus year career in Portland, Richard was very instrumental in the development of the Asian food scene in the local region. Richard saw a void in the marketplace where restaurants and markets were not able to procure essential Asian food products easily. Being the entrepreneurial person he was, he set out to form a food distribution company out of his house and turned that company into one of the largest Asian food distribution companies in the area. Richard was also very civic minded in the community working with many local multicultural organizations to help bring awareness to the needs of the Asian community. He was one of the individuals who spearheaded the formation of the Kwan Yin Temple for the people of Portland.
Richard is survived by his wife, Lenna Liu, daughter, Jenny Liu, daughter & son-in-law, Debbie Liu and Jasper Hsu, son & daughter-in-law, Michael and Traci Liu. He is also survived by grandchildren, Connor and Ryan Hsu, Lauren and Audrey Liu.
He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by those who loved him.
